Description of cheese
The nameLingot is a generic name for a group of French cheeses refering to the shape of the cheese, which is like a bar of gold bullion, rectangular with shaped sides. Lingot are normally goat's cheeses, often from the Berry region in the Centre in France.
Lingot can be fresh goat's cheeses, plain, sprinkled with ash, herbs or pepper. Ripened Lingot can also be found.
Individual villages, towns and regions may make their own "lingot de " plus the name of their area.
